With
WirelessAdmin, you can view a list of applications running on the machine
on which WirelessAdmin is installed. From that list, you can either
close or kill applications that you select. These functions
are available through the Process Control menu option. Closing
or killing applications is as simple as scrolling up or down to
the desired application and selecting "Close" or "Kill".
Closing an application
with WirelessAdmin is the equivalent of clicking on the Close button in
the upper right hand corner of a Windows application. This is considered
by Windows to be an orderly shutdown. During an orderly shutdown,
applications generally save information, close files, free memory
and complete the tasks that they are required to do before the application
itself exits memory.
Killing an application
with WirelessAdmin is the equivalent of clicking the End Process button
for a selected process from the Windows Task Manager. Killing
an application performs a forced shutdown instead of an orderly
shutdown. During a forced shutdown, it is possible that the
application does not save information, does not close files or free
memory. However the application itself is terminated. Killing
an application is generally reserved for applications that do not
respond to an orderly shutdown or are otherwise "hung".
WirelessAdmin will
also allow you to close and kill processes. A process is generally
a non-visual application that is running in the background.
